This 1959 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite was originally exported to America, where it spent it’s life in California before recently being imported back. The car is being restored back to factory specifications, which was Old English White paint with a red interior trim.
After being stripped to a bare shell it was evident the car was a Californian vehicle, as the structure was in excellent condition and required no welding. The body has been taken back to bare metal and coated in Jenolite (rust eater). The underbody has also been taken back to bare metal and coated with Gravitex stone chip, as well as inside the cab (floor panels etc). The car has then been resprayed in Old English White.
The suspension has been completely stripped, sand blasted and painted in gloss black. It’s currently being rebuilt with all new polybushes, nuts and bolts, coil springs, as well as a full front and back brake overhaul with new pipework, flexy hoses, brake shoes, adjusters and wheel cylinders.
The interior has had new red carpets installed, with a matching vinyl trim kit and leather seat overhaul. In the engine bay, the original engine has been stripped to a bare shell and fully rebuilt with new pistons, oil pump etc. It has been painted in correct factory green, then fitted on new mounts. All new water system components (radiator etc) have been installed in the engine bay, as well as an overhauled original heater box and various other new parts.
If you are interested in having this vehicle restored to either factory or your own specification, please contact us. The car is on display in our showroom and can be viewed at any time, however we advise to call in advance.
