This 1959 Triumph TR3A is an original right hand drive home market vehicle, that underwent a full nut and bolt restoration in 2017. Due to a change in circumstances with the owner moving abroad, we are able to offer this car for sale on behalf of the customer. Below is a description of the restoration work carried out. As you can see, it has had a substantial amount of upgrades and additional extras fitted to help improve reliability, as well as improve the drive of the car.
The car was stripped to a bare shell and chassis, then the chassis was blasted, zinc primed and painted in Chassis Black. The body was taken back to bare metal, coated in Jenolite, etch primed, primed and fully resprayed in Old English White. The chassis was completely rebuilt with all new suspension/braking/steering components, including Spax shock absorber upgrades and uprated coil springs. The brakes have had an upgrade to servo assisted, and Mintex ‘classic’ brake pads. The engine was stripped back to the bare block and fully rebuilt. The engine rebuild included all new 89mm pistons and liners, hi-torque camshaft, oil pump, unleaded head conversion, spin on oil filter conversion, all gaskets and seals, timing chain kit etc. Once the engine was fitted, various new parts were fitted around it including all new water/fuel/electrical system components, with upgrades such as alternator conversion, Revotec electric fan, CSI electronic ignition and coil etc. A reconditioned Triumph TR4 gearbox was fitted with a TR6 ‘J type’ overdrive unit. The interior is new navy blue leather seats with a matching vinyl trim kit and navy wool carpets.
This TR3A drives superb and is now a very fast car given the engine upgrades. Ready to be enjoyed!

Suspension, braking and steering: Spaxx front shock absorbers, uprated front coil springs, Spaxx telescopic rear shock absorber conversion, complete front suspension polybush overhaul (trunions, fulcrum pins etc), copper brake lines, brake calipers/discs/pads, steering rack conversion kit, 72 spoke wire wheels and new tyres.

Interior: Complete exchange leather seats including new spring bases, sponges and covers, wool carpet, vinyl trim kit including door panels, 6x gauge recondition, speedometer re-calibrated for overdrive gearbox, dashboard switches, Mota Lita wood rim steering wheel and boss, 12V cigarette lighter, Clayton heater upgrade, mohair hood cover & tonneau cover.
Engine bay components & various ancillaries: Radiator, cloth covered wiring loom, complete hose kit, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel tank, stainless steel exhaust system, windscreen and all seals, re-chromed windscreen stanchions and frame, Revotec electric fan, uprated starter motor, brake servo, door/bonnet/boot hinges, all lights and chrome work.
