This 1959 MGA Coupe is an original right hand drive vehicle currently undergoing a full nut-and-bolt restoration for a customer. Only 5,000 home market right hand drive MGA’s were manufactured, so these are now very rare and hard to find. The customer has requested the vehicle to be restored back to factory standards, including the original colour of Island Green.
We stripped the body to a bare shell and removed from the chassis. The body was completely sand blasted then coated in Etch Primer. Substantial fabrication works were carried out, with the body prepared and painted in original Island Green. Meanwhile the chassis was stripped down, sand blasted, etch primed and painted in chassis black. It then had all new suspension, braking and steering components fitted.
With the body and chassis fitted together, the rebuilt 1500cc engine was fitted as were various parts to the body and engine bay including all chrome, interior, water/fuel/electrical systems etc.
After getting the car starting and running on the ramp, we embarked on the cars first test drive in almost 50 years! The car was then finished off before being delivered to the customer.
