Welcome to another of our ‘Articles’ – a blog post illustrating the ins and outs here at Carn Bosavern Garage, based in St.Just, Cornwall. Ranging from details on a full restoration, to the intricacies of an engine rebuild, we take a look at both current and previous restorations on vehicles such as MGA’s, MGB’s, plus Triumph TR2’s, TR3’s and TR4’s. We will also give an update on our current stock of classic cars for sale and used cars for sale.
In this article we take a look at a Triumph TR4 that we repaired after suffering accident damage.
Unfortunately accidents happen. Such was the case with this TR4 that was stationary in traffic when a car drove in to the back of them. Luckily nobody was injured, however the proud owner was less than happy with the state their car was left in.
We got the vehicle on to the ramp and assessed the damage. It was no surprise that the impact had implicated the door gap on the nearside, as well as damaging everything from boot lid to boot floor.
The vehicle was stripped of damaged parts and various new panels were fitted, such as rear valance, boot floor, boot floor side panel, boot lid and hinges, wing beadings, rear light plus various other parts.
Working with the customer, we made sure that not only that the vehicle was repaired correctly, but that it was improved at the same time. This included sand blasting and freshly painting all bumper brackets, installing stainless steel bumpers as opposed to chrome, as well as carrying out a full respray in the correct shade of British Racing Green.
We supplied an insurance valuation letter upon completion, given the increase in value after the substantial works carried out. The end product was a TR4A leaving us in better condition than it was prior to the accident, much to the customers delight.
We have worked with the TR Register, MGOC and the MG Car Club on various insurance jobs over the years. While we don’t wish it upon anyone, if the worst does happen, we are able to fully repair your vehicle to a top standard so that you’re cherished car can continue to be enjoyed.
